Oakville Rotary announces Centennial Water Project with Zenon

The four Oakville Rotary Clubs are pleased to announce a joint project with Zenon
Environmental Corporation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International on
February 23, 2005.

This project combines the resources of Rotary, the largest service Club in the world, with
Zenon Environmental Corporation, a world leader in the development and installation of
water filtration systems that address the particular problem of viral and bacterial
contaminants.

This joint initiative was formed to install such a system capable of treating and delivering
up to 70,000 gallons (317,800 litres) of clean drinking water a day to a suitable site in
Sub-Saharan Africa.

A Rotarian from each of Oakville's four Clubs -- Oakville, Oakville Trafalgar,  Oakville
North and Oakville West -- form the committee responsible for the site selection, engaging
their counterpart Rotary Clubs in Africa to get involved with the project, gaining support
from the local governments and buy-in from the community itself. The committee will also
be raising funds to provide the water delivery system required at the actual site.

Zenon Environmental Corporation, together with support from its suppliers, will cover all
the costs associated with the design, engineering, construction and installation of the
water filtration system.

"To celebrate the centenary year of Rotary International, we decided to export some of the
privileges of our own community to one far less fortunate than ourselves.", said David
Angas, Committee Chair. "This project has allowed us to bring some attention to a
threatened part of the world and to the most basic of all human needs - clean drinking
water."

A joint team will be leaving on January 30th to inspect a short list of candidate sites in
Ghana and South Africa. An announcement will be made soon after their return on the site
selected and details of this project.
